Brief

The CEO layoff letter has become an emblem of modern capitalism's disconnect. What was once a rare admission of failure has morphed into a formulaic template attempting to mask the human toll of rapid over-expansion. Our project dissects this ritual, examining the strained attempts at empathy within these repetitive pronouncements.

Users are first struck by the boilerplate language and calculated euphemisms shared across layoff missives from once-revered companies. Our interactive archive exposes the original letters, while AI-powered analysis deconstructs the overuse of hollow phrases and vacant expressions of regret. The tension is palpable; users draw their own conclusions on authenticity, hidden agendas, and leadership failures.

The visual landscape amplifies the contrast between cold corporate prose and the stark realities of those impacted. A muted palette and an abstracted design enable users exploration within the swelling archive.

Amidst the patterns, glimpses of human struggle emerge—reminders of the faces behind "strategic realignments" and "workforce optimizations." This growing collection transcends simple condemnation, inviting leaders, employees, and observers to confront the modern workplace. Is this standardized lexicon of layoffs inevitable, or can genuine empathy break through?
